Tax Manager | Corporate Office
Job Summary
The Tax Manager reports to the Vice President – Finance and Treasurer. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day functions of the Corporate Tax Department. This position works with our 3rd party tax consultant to assist in oversight of all federal, state and local tax compliance and planning functions of the REIT and all subsidiaries. Duties would also include staying up to date with industry and government regulations through continuing education and subscriptions to professional journals. The Tax Manager should work closely with the VP-Finance and Treasurer and CFO for planning purposes and needs to assist in providing top management with the tax information needed to achieve the financial goals of the company.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for managing, directing and monitoring the activities of the Senior Tax Accountant in order to achieve the goals of the tax department.
- Those goals include working with our 3rd party tax consultant to ensure timely completion of tax returns, REIT-related filings, and other tax compliance and escheat filings as well as planning and evaluating the tax impact of current and proposed company activities and transactions.
- Responsible for communicating tax information with partners and outside investors.
Qualifications
- CPA required
- 7 plus years’ experience in tax, Real Estate, REIT, and some “Big 4” experience preferred
- Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Oracle ERP experience and proficiency a plus
- 2 plus years of managerial experience

- May require long hours and odd schedules (including weekends)
- May require airline travel, out-of-town and /or overnight trips
- Attendance and punctuality are essential for success in this position
