Sr. Accountant, Payroll
This position is responsible for using strong analytical, technical and collaborative skills for extracting, gathering, creating and delivering various reports and analyses on key metrics and creating and/or maintaining current process documentation surrounding employee compensation.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Responsibilities:
Extract and combine payroll information from multiple data sources and deliver ad-hoc and variance reports for regional reporting.
Analyze payroll details to ensure employees are coded to the correct departments in the general ledger.
Work closely with various departments to identify miscoded payroll and prepare reclasses and intercompany transactions to reconcile the payroll accounts.
Calculate monthly payroll and incentive accruals and post adjusting journal entries.
Input payroll information into the budget system and update as needed for the quarterly reforecasts.
Prepare budget to actual payroll detail reports for regional leadership to review.
Calculate and prepare payroll billback entries to third party projects.
Prepare journal entries, intracompany transactions, general ledger account reconciliations and budget variance reports.
Maintain data integrity and compliance by running reports, auditing and analyzing information and troubleshooting errors.
Manage the delivery of key payroll projects that include obtaining an understanding of the issue and collaboration
with key team members about the issues.
Seeks opportunities for synergy, improvement, simplification and automation of existing processes and reporting.
Other Responsibilities:
Completes various administrative duties and prepare ad-hoc reports as necessary.
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Follows established policies and procedures by monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and operational processes related to area(s) of responsibility and reporting violations or infractions to appropriate individual(s).
- Identifies areas for improvement and offers suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity.
Working Conditions:
- Incumbents work in an office environment.
Physical Demands:
- Incumbents must be able to view computer screens and other electronic equipment, paper reports, and journals for extended periods of time where visual strain may result.
- Rare or occasional travel may be required to attend business meetings, training classes, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all of the daily responsibilities of this position.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- None.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- 3+ year employment history that demonstrates the application and usage of an accounting and financial background sufficient to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports in accordance with accounting, finance, budgeting, and cost control principles.
- Exceptional communication, customer service, problem-solving and analytical skills utilized in effectively collaborating with team members at all levels throughout the organization as well as 3rd party consultants.
- Demonstrated advanced level expertise in spreadsheet development, manipulation, analysis, etc.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., formulas such as V- lookup, pivot tables, etc.), including the ability to create and generate spreadsheets and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to manage highly confidential information with a high degree of professionalism
Depending on the position offered, regular full-time and part-time team members may be eligible to participate in a bonus program in addition to their base salary.
