Job Description Summary:

Sr Facilities Electrical Technicians work within a facility management organization that provides a variety of operation and maintenance services within a 24/7/365 environment that includes non-critical data environments and commercial office space. Technicians are responsible for completing all assigned tasks while maintaining a focus on the importance of equipment uptime.

Job Description:

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and repair electrical distribution panels and emergency power systems.
  • Perform PM’s, troubleshooting, basic repairs, adjustments, and installations to commercial electrical systems
  • Technicians must be capable of responding to a variety of trouble calls or work tickets such as, but not limited to, equipment installs, electrical outages, equipment testing, general plumbing, light carpentry work, basic HVAC, piping repairs, lighting issues while demonstrating strong customer service skills
  • Ensure that PM’s and work orders assigned are completed and closed out in compliance with the provided schedule
  • Responds to building system alarms to preserve the critical load, minimize equipment or system damage, and participates in root cause analysis
  • Assist with equipment and system operational modifications, such as critical switching, Lock Out/Tag Out, and safe working area set up so that specialty contractors may perform assigned or duties while minimizing risk to workers, and protecting the critical load
  • Maintains records for inventory of repair supplies and materials; prepares materials requisitions for approval by supervisor as replacement needs dictate
  • Maintain vigilance and report all potential system/equipment problems to management immediately
  • Comply with company policies and safety requirements/programs and acts as a local electrical safety subject mater expert

Training & Education Requirements:

  • Master level training/experience in the electrical trade
  • Electrician license from local jurisdiction
  • Associates degree or trade school certification in an electrical training program preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of electrical experience in commercial or industrial environments
  • Well versed in electrical codes and theory
  • Must have flexibility to work overtime and work on an on-call basis, as may be dictated by the needs of the business
  • Able to use hand tools, test equipment and knowledge of maintenance shop practices
  • Able to respond to equipment alarms, troubleshoot systems through graphic user interface on equipment and systems, and understand systems operations adequately to be able to stabilize system operations while specialized OEM technicians are called to site
  • Ability use/navigate personal computers and smart phone/tablets to complete basic business functions
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawing, schematics, procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, management, and client representatives
  • Must possess a valid driver license
  • Must pass a criminal background check

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to work to in an environment with exposure to dust, chemicals, and loud noises
  • Must have ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders) and safely install rigging/lifting devices
  • Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
  • Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work
  • Ability to read and understand information presented orally and in writing
  • Regularly required to utilize vision abilities, allowing reading of printed material, drawings, and schematics
