Senior Director, Construction Claims
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Ensure efficient handling of any/all claims. Build, maintain and manage relationships with claims adjusters, insurers, outside legal counsel, and other claims-related parties.
- The ability to oversee and direct the handling of portfolio of high severity, specialized, complex and unique claims as well as construction site accidents, construction defect type claims
- Manage litigated cases including referring to counsel, establishing a litigation plan and legal budget, and providing settlement authority pursuant to delegated authority.
- Oversee the administrative aspects associated with all construction litigation.
- Ensure all incidents and related items such as photos, statements, videos, and other relevant documents are collected and stored. Stay involved in “severe” or “high priority” incidents.
- Escalate high-priority or emergency concerns to appropriate Sr. Director of Global Claims
- Assist in implementation and ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the RMIS system.
- Partner with claims adjusters to facilitate the claims process through to closure.
- Partner with broker claims advocates.
- Do an excellent job of managing internal and external communications related to incidents.
- Negotiating settlements within provided settlement authority.
- The ability and understanding to analyze risk transfer options and/or insurance priorities (e.g., time of risk).
- Analyzing coverage and detailed reservation of rights and/or coverage declination letters.
- The position may require some travel for training, mediation, and/or trials.
- Performs other duties, as necessary.
Senior Director Construction Claims will have the following education and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum 10 years claims handling experience, with at least 4 years focusing on Construction Claims
- Familiarity with multiple states’ statutory requirements regarding construction claims handling requirements.
- Experience with OCIP/ROCIP coverage
- Familiar with RMIS systems, Origami
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Flexibility for occasional business travel.
Depending on the position offered, regular full-time and part-time team members may be eligible to participate in a bonus program in addition to their base salary.
