Job Description Summary

The Operations Center Technician position will be responsible for staffing the Operations Center in conjunction with the regular weekday staff for 24/7 coverage. This position assists in monitoring the BMS feeds into the Operations Center looking for anomalies, calling out the right personnel/vendors, and documenting any incidents.

Responsibilities

• The Operations Center technician is responsible for monitoring the BMS (Building Management Systems) displays and alerts. They will need to identify alarms, anomalies, and faults. They will be the first to receive notifications and should attempt to resolve through the BMS. If field work will be necessary to resolve the issue, the appropriate people or vendors will need to be called

• This position will be staffed after normal working hours on the weekday’s and for full coverage on the weekends. They will be responsible for manning phones/radios with direct communication to other facilities employees. As they notice issues in the field – service and troubleshooting calls will be handled through this Operations Center

Requirements

• Associate degree in HVAC/Electrical and formalized training in the application of BMS software

• Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems

• Experience reading and prioritizing alarm alerts including identifying nuisance alarms

• Four or more years’ experience with BMS systems

• Ability to speak and write English, fluently

• Ability to utilize basic personal computer applications including spreadsheets, word processors, email, and internet browsers

• Needs to be familiar with CMMS (Computer-Maintenance Management Systems) to log and track work orders

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to travel from floor-to-floor and may be required to travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions

• The employee may also be regularly required to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time

• Regularly use hands to operate office machinery including, but not limited to, telephones, computers, fax, and photocopy machines

• Regularly required to walk, to talk, and to hear

This position requires that the employee perform services for a customer at a customer facility. The customer mandates that all service providers entering its facility be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
