Operational Accounting Supervisor

Job Summary

The Operational Accounting Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day oversight, training and quality assurance of commercial accounting staff. This position is additionally responsible for key accounts payable functions and automation through technology. The successful candidate will embody and work to reinforce MAA’s Core Values. Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervises Commercial Financial Statement Production

  • Hires, trains, and supervises staff

  • Provides QA for GAAP financials, as well as reconciliations, and commercial specific processes (CAM, etc. )

• Deploys technology tools as part of Accounts Payable technology initiatives

  • Develops process and training materials while developing expertise in business processes

  • Trains team including other supervisors and team members

• Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business

  • May include but not limited to-1099 assistance, control oversight, vendor management

  • Includes interactions with Operations Management to provide support and troubleshooting

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Four years of accounting or related experience required

• Commercial accounting experience required

• Supervisory management experience required

Preferred Qualifications

• Supervisory experience preferred

• Commercial accounting experience preferred

• Experience with Yardi and ServiceNow systems preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of all core accounting principles and best practices, including GAAP

• Experience with detailed General Ledger coding

• Willing to gain knowledge of Commercial Accounting as well as technology tools

• Skill in staff supervision and leadership
