The successful candidate for this position will be a member of a high-performing team of technicians supporting a high-volume, world-class data center. Candidate will be required to be highly motivated, accept responsibility for actions taken, produce positive results, demonstrate a “can-do” attitude and an eagerness to learn new skills in support of organizational goals. The role(s) of this position will be responsible for assisting all facets of facility infrastructure and equipment maintenance which may include but is not limited to routine corrective and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs, vendor engagement, and planning, scheduling and coordination. Candidate should demonstrate applied technical knowledge to solve complex problems–often facilitated solely by technical background and skills, utilizing industry contacts and/or referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Day-to-day work activities require an understanding of the interrelationships between various mission critical facility systems. Candidate will also be expected to support other mission critical facility roles, for example, mechanical, electrical and building management systems maintenance. This position escalates operational availability risks to Data Center Infrastructure leadership, provides high level technical recommendations, engages and collaborates with external support experts, assists with resolutions, and is willing to support overtime and after hours call support when needed or required, including weekends.Job Description

EXPERIENCE
- Extensive experience maintaining centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, pumps, plumbing, chilled water production and associated downstream air handling equipment
- Working knowledge of one or more the following large systems are a plus: diesel engine generators and paralleling switchgear; UPS systems and batteries; complex electrical distribution systems, including 12.47kVA, 5kV, 480V switchgear, DC distribution systems, static and automatic transfer switches; underground storage facilities supporting diesel generator and chilled water storage systems
- Ability to work safely where hazardous voltages and/or dangerous machinery are in proximity
- Ability to multi-task and seamlessly navigate between disparate disciplines and tasks effectively; analyze data quickly, and make timely, effective decisions
- General understanding of hardware networking and communications protocols
- Experience with automation and building monitoring tools
- Welding and fabrication skills are desirable
- Experience working inside a Data Center or other mission-critical facility is a plus
- Visible emissions, Level 1 thermography, and mechanical and electrical equipment certifications are a plus
- General working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Logical problem solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to understandably articulate complex information to lay audiences
EDUCATION
- High School diploma or GED equivalent, military background/experience or trade school experience/diploma
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
- Must have ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders) and safely install rigging and operate manual lifting devices. Must have ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools, materials handling equipment–pallet jacks, forklifts, hoisting systems, etc.
- Regularly required to crouch and reach to install and move equipment, read equipment displays and signage, etc., by bending forward at the waist, kneeling and/or from prone positions
- Ability to speak clearly and understandably
- Ability to read and understand information presented orally and in writing
- Regularly utilize vision for reviewing finely detailed printed material: drawings, schematics, etc.
