Position Summary
As the Associate Web Designer/Developer, you ll have a big mission to lend your expertise and technical know-how to the set-up, design, launch, and maintenance processes of our websites. You re a collaborative, hands-on web designer/developer with a keen eye for both user-focused design and timelines, always delivering extraordinary results for our most important stakeholders our users. Making lists and checking them twice is your forte, especially when it comes to data inputs and site configuration, and your prioritization and time management skills are unrivaled. You ll have an incredibly strong support system to lean on, reporting to the Manager of Digital Strategy, and working side-by-side with your peers in Corporate Marketing.
As the primary rocket launcher for our team, you’re quick on your feet, because we spin up an average of 150+ new property pages on our website each year. You love rolling up your sleeves to get the job done independently and know when to lean on SMEs and stakeholders for critical requests requiring another set of eyes. You re all about keeping the team informed of your progress along the way and you understand that internal communication plays a big part in our success, because it takes a village. As you can likely tell, ‘how’ things are done matters just as much as what was done here at BH. You re up to speed on WCAG, ADA compliance, and know (or can learn) FHA guidelines in a snap, with compassion for the why behind these regulations.
Great proofreading skills and a knack for knowing when something needs to be brought to a copywriter s attention. An eye for design and a familiarity with modern graphic design systems and tools. We use Adobe, but there are many great tools out there. You ensure that the BH brand is represented well across every touchpoint.
You are comfortable with your work being request-driven and thrive in an environment where each day could bring something new. Happily autonomous with healthy communication skills. You love to work your task queue independently, and you keep everyone in your sphere informed of your progress. You understand that the best way to accomplish a request may not be the quickestway to accomplish a request, and your judgement on which to choose for each scenario is solid. A passion for scalability! Your day-to-day consists mostly of trees but you are always thinking about the forest , too! When repetitive requests arise, you know just how to add self-service automation to the mix. Familiarity with renters, real estate, and multifamily operations (conventional + student housing) is ideal, but not a deal breaker. We re great teachers.
Essential Job Functions:
WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT AND ADMINISTRATION:
- Maintaining routine functional and content revisions
- Configuring business data feeds and fields into websites, widgets, and plugins
- Provide recommendations for keeping site speed and scalability optimal
- General WordPress administration
- Communicate ideas using wireframes, user flows, process flows, site maps, and storyboards
- Conduct website testing as needed to improve design and functionality
- Build a strong relationship with our hosting provider + back-end development team
WEB DESIGN:
- Design engaging and responsive websites and landing pages
- Incorporate new features and functionalities into property web pages
- Design and place visual imagery for websites, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines
- Proofread content and copy updates as needed, to keep it clean and optimal
- Leverage Adobe Creative Suite to employ design best practices through the website
- Update web banners, lead magnets, pop-ups, etc. to reflect current campaigns
MARKETING DELIVERABLES:
- Creates excellent work product and is an advocate for BH s brand
- Demonstrates knowledge of behavioral data tools like click maps, user testing, and heatmaps
- Expertise to understand the most performant way to accomplish a novice marketing request
- Noteworthy communication skills
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills

Minimum Qualifications/Skills:
- 2+ years of experience with the role-required tech – CMS platforms and applications, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Query or similar. WordPress skills are a double plus, plus.
- 2+ years of experience with role-required processes – wireframes, user flows, sitemaps, mockups. Modern UI/UX best practice knowledge is a notch above.
- 2+ years of marketing experience. You understand interactive marketing best practices and industry standards and can partner well with digital strategists and graphic designers to produce good, functional results.
Work Schedule:8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, or as needed to meet business needs

While performing the duties of this job, employees must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, occasionally move about the office, constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, communicate regularly and effectively with others, both written and verbally, and may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
This position requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
The ability and means to travel locally, overnight, in specific regions or states via automobile and airplane may be required.
