IT Business Intelligence Specialist | MAA Corporate Headquarters

The IT Business Intelligence Specialist reports to the Director Business Intelligence and provides support for business intelligence activities including development, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of intelligence solutions. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partners with Business Intelligence developers and management to design, test and create new reporting solutions and infrastructure including Structured Query Language (SQL) queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports, Tableau dashboards, and ETL (extract, transform, load) applications designed to support the data warehouse.
  • Uses BI platform software (Tableau, Power BI, etc. ) to assist management and enhance decision-making and problem-solving activities.
  • Performs analysis, identifies problems, and makes recommendations for solutions to business processes.
  • Designs, develops, and supports reporting options for non-technical end-users.
  • Identifies, quantifies, proposes, and performs new solutions for improving BI metrics.
  • Tests and validates new reports to ensure consistency.
  • Writes relational and multidimensional database queries.
  • Assists with ad hoc reporting and data analysis projects as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, finance, accounting or a related field preferred
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a business intelligence development or related role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports preferred
  • Experience with Tableau preferred
  • Experience in real estate preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and skill in building and modifying SRSS reporting components
  • Skill in developing system environments to meet and support quality assurance initiatives
  • Skill and ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing, including with non-technical audiences
  • Skill in applying critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving methods
  • Skill in attending to detail and data accuracy validation
  • Skill in managing projects, organizing, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), SQL, SRSS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
