Instructional Designer | Corporate Office (Hybrid Role)
Job Summary
Camden’s Instructional Designer will create engaging training for our multi-generational workforce in various modes of delivery, including instructor-led classes, workshops and computer-based training. This role will report to the Instructional Design Manager and collaborate with the employee development team, as well as subject matter experts throughout the company to create training that drives Camden’s success. The Instructional Designer handles course development, including needs analysis, design and implementation. In addition to creating new training programs, the Instructional Designer continually evaluates the effectiveness of existing training and makes changes to meet our constantly evolving business needs.
Essential Functions
- Participate in all phases of the instructional design process using a structured ID system
- Work with the Instructional Design Manager, trainers and Camden team members to identify performance gaps and appropriate training solutions
- Create training deliverables that efficiently decrease targeted performance gaps
- Develop training in multiple modes of delivery, including web-based training, instructor-led classes, seminars/workshops and blended learning
- Analyze and select appropriate instructional strategies based on needs analysis, including mode of delivery, length, frequency, content, etc.
- Design and produce learning support materials (such as participant/instructor manuals, surveys, and performance assessment tools), in a variety of formats including print, infographics, audio, video, animation and multimedia
- Communicate frequently and effectively with the Instructional Design Manager, as well as project collaborators, to ensure objectives are met
- Effectively build and maintain strong work relationships
- Create training that is clearly written in easily understood language tailored for Camden team members in specific roles.
- Remain informed of trends in the training and development field and the multifamily industry
- Manage multiple projects, timelines and competing demands. Exercise strong project and time management skills
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of three years’ experience in design and development of corporate training
- Bachelor’s degree required; Bachelor’s or Master’s in Instructional Design/CPLP certification a plus
- High level of proficiency in Instructional Design and Adult Learning Theory Principles
- Proficiency in eLearning development tools, in particular Articulate Storyline
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of current instructional theories and principles applicable to instructor-led and computer-based training

- Job is intermittently sedentary but requires mobility (i.e., climb stairs)
- Will use some repetitive motion of hand-wrist in using computer and writing
- Works in a typical office setting
- Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position
- Must handle stressful, urgent, novel and diverse work situations on a daily basis
- May require long hours and odd schedules (including weekends)
- Position requires periodic travel by automobile to handle work-related activities
- May require airline travel, out-of-town and /or overnight trips
- Attendance and punctuality is essential for success in this position
- Hazards can be minimized with proper lifting techniques, SDS, general safety training, and wearing appropriate PPE
