Job Description Summary

Facilities Utility Technicians work within a facility management organization that provides a variety of operation and maintenance services within a 24/7/365 environment that includes non-critical data environments and commercial office space. The Facilities Utility Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance tasks, building/equipment inspections, general labor, janitorial tasks, and minor landscaping duties. This position does not require any trade specific license or training.

Job Description

• Routine janitorial services – trash removal, restroom cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping/mopping, dusting electrical equipment, ordering materials

• General maintenance repairs – filter maintenance/cleaning, light carpentry, lamp replacements, restroom maintenance, painting, materials handling, and event setup/support

• Landscaping duties to include applying herbicide/pesticides/fertilizer, sweeping sidewalks and roads, weedeating

• Assist other members of the maintenance team in an assistant/apprentice capacity as required

• Provide a high level of service and quality while completing assigned tasks as scheduled

• Provide positive customer interactions and demonstrate creative problem solving

• Maintain work and inventory records using provided digital tools

• Comply with company policies and safety requirements/programs

Training & Education Requirements:

• High School graduate, GED, or equivalent experience

• 2 years of janitorial and maintenance experience in a commercial or industrial environment desired

• Previous floor care experience in a commercial or industrial environment desired

• Must have flexibility to work overtime and work on an on-call basis, as may be dictated by the needs of the business

• Ability use/navigate personal computers and smartphone/tablets to complete basic business functions

• Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, management, and client representatives

• Must possess a valid state driver’s license

• Must pass a criminal background check and MVR check

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Ability to work in an environment with exposure to dust, high heat, chemicals, and loud noises

• Must have ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders) and safely install rigging/lifting devices

• Regularly required to install/move equipment

• Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work

• Ability to read and understand information presented orally and in writing

• Regularly required to read of printed material, drawings, and schematics
