Job Description Summary

This is a Facilities Electrician with Journeyman’s card position. This position is dedicated to one location in Denton, TX. This person will work as an integral part of a team. This position installs, maintains, repairs and tests electrical equipment for the generation, distribution and/or utilization of electric energy throughout a commercial / industrial facility. This position also assists with the daily requests and needs of the facility as directed by the Site Lead.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team member must be able to work in a team oriented and safety conscious environment. “Safety First” expectations include, but are not limited to, JHA process, Observation process, and compliance with all company / site safety guidelines and procedures to include daily, weekly, monthly safety training and exercises.
  • Must have working knowledge and be able to perform assigned tasks with or without supervision including but not limited to testing and troubleshooting electrical systems using tools that include voltmeters, oscilloscopes and ohmmeters and wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, blueprints and/or verbal instructions to determine where issues may be occurring, the safety of the system and to ensure compatibility
  • Ability to plan and layout work projects from wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, blueprints and/or verbal instructions.
  • Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation
  • Inventory and properly track supplies, equipment, tools, and machinery.
  • Repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements
  • Operate vehicles and powered equipment to include but not limited to trucks, ATV’s, ladders, scaffolding, platform and lifts to work on electrical systems as required and needed
  • Complete work orders and answer emergency calls, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provide directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfort
  • Ability to select the correct materials to complete work assignments.
  • Proficient in establishing test procedures relative to requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
  • Proficient in maintaining electrician’s tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Must be willing to cross train in all trades and be a team player.
  • Coordinate and execute repairs on all indoor and outdoor electrical systems.
  • Coordinate and execute preventive maintenance inspections and repairs in all facilities.
  • Coordinate and execute repair power to all Main Power Distribution Systems and Panel Boards
  • Coordinate and execute repair on all outdoor facility lighting including signs, parking areas and security lighting.
  • Respond to emergency power failures and emergency back-up systems.
  • Coordinate and execute repairs on electrical systems for chillers, HVAC, pumps, generators, etc.
  • Coordinate and execute repairs online voltage of equipment including freezers, refrigerators, computer stations, cubicles, booster heaters, disposals, heat pumps and others.
  • Sweeping, mopping of floors as needed
  • Dusting of electrical equipment as needed
  • Assisting with other projects in landscaping and property improvements
  • Assist with plumbing needs as needed or able.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by site management

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess a valid Journeyman Electrician License for the State of Texas.
  • Possess a clean and valid state driver’s license.
  • Understand state and local building codes, and know OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency, and other electrical regulations
  • Heavy lifting over 50 pounds, climbing ladders, enclosed spaces, etc.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Communicate with customers and coworkers effectively to promote efficiency and safety.
  • Capable of analyzing and solving problems with various electrical controls and systems.
  • Capable of troubleshooting ground faults and other faults that come up.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and record average readings at each facility main electrical switchgear.
  • Troubleshoot blown circuit breakers and fuses.
  • Adhere to established electrical work order preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Perform test and inspection of all emergency generators.
  • Maintain and update emergency generator logbooks.
  • Must be willing to work on call and overtime as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, climb flights of stairs, work from elevated areas, and wear a respirator when required by the job. It requires a full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate hand tools and industrial machinery such as a material lifts, boom lifts, and forklifts. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift 55 pounds to shoulder height and to push/ pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
