Job Description Summary

The ideal candidate will be an experienced tax leader that will provide corporate income and VAT planning and regulatory reporting, process & governance development and strategic tax support to the EMEA offices of Cushman & Wakefield as well as to the global headquarters. This role will define the tax function across EMEA. The candidate will work in collaboration with business units to review operating models, identify and fix necessary processes, lead tax planning, reporting and controversy.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of tax professionals who will review all EMEA tax processes to build a business supportive tax function in EMEA. Including overseeing Senior Accounting officer reporting and SOX reporting.

• Provide dedicated corporate income tax advice, develop international tax strategy and drive implementation of solutions; This includes communicating the tax strategy to HMRC

• Full accountability for Tax / VAT compliance and quarterly reporting across EMEA and managing outsider advisors. This includes CIR returns and CFC reporting.

• Work collaboratively with regional EMEA CFOs, the EMEA controllership team and outside auditors to effectively report statutory accounts and quarterly and yearend tax provisions.

• Lead the management of the legal entity structure in EMEA working closely with the business leaders, Company secretariat and other teams to streamline and drive legal entity rationalization across the region.

• Lead tax matters on EMEA acquisitions and collaborate with the EMEA M&A team. This includes any post acquisition structuring and integration.

• Identify, develop and implement EMEA tax process improvements on path to steady state tax function;
• Preparing and presenting complex tax matters to regional management and outlining the tax strategy and process improvements;
• Review quarterly and year end EMEA tax provision applying US GAAP rules;
• Developing documentation to support tax positions
• Managing internal/external teams on compliance, provision, audits, and tax planning
• Managing queries and tax matters from across several EMEA jurisdictions
• Oversite and management of VAT Senior Manager and VAT matters
• Able to summarise financial data into high quality, accurate and usable summaries for tax audit purposes

Key experience and qualifications

• 10+ years of tax experience including public accounting/law firm and corporate experience
• Be Tax or Accountancy qualified
• Strong knowledge of EMEA income taxation of corporate transactions
• Knowledge of US GAAP and ASC740
• Experience in leading a small team to drive change
• Exceptionally strong business partnering skills to ensure tax is considered early in decision making.
• Have experience in dealing with European VAT issues
• Ability to quickly understand and integrate business objectives with tax strategies, and effectively communicate tax requirements to senior management
• Ability to prioritise to ensure goals are achieved
• Proven track record in providing commercially focused tax advice across EMEA
• U.S. income taxation of corporate transactions preferred.
