Criminal Screening Analyst
The Criminal Screening Analyst reports to the Director Security and analyzes the criminal histories and mitigating factors of resident applicants to MAA’s apartment properties. The successful candidate will embody and work to reinforce MAA’s Core Values. Those values include:

Duties and Responsibilities
- Compiles and analyzes data pertaining to the criminal record histories of applicants to MAA properties.
- Reviews all criminal records of applicants and applies criminal screening analysis to the records.
- Reviews all mitigating factors provided by applicants with criminal histories and includes mitigating factors in analysis of criminal record history.
- Makes recommendations for acceptance or denial of applicants with criminal record histories based upon established criteria.
- Organizes and conducts meetings of Criminal Record History Screening Committee to review and discuss recommendations regarding acceptance or denial of applicants with criminal record histories.
- Assists in ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal laws and with company policies.
- Researches and makes recommendations as necessary on improvements to systems and processes.
- Maintains an electronic information database reflecting analyst activity.
- Interacts with law enforcement and/or criminal screening agencies as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, sociology, or a related field preferred
- Two to three years of experience in data analysis, legal, security, or law enforcement preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skill and ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing
- Skill in applying critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving and decision-making
- Skill in applying interviewing techniques
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and maintain appropriate discretion
