Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer

Job Description Summary

The Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer (CECO) will be responsible for the development, enhancement and implementation of a unified, high impact, proactive and global ethics and compliance program.
The CECO will work collaboratively with the Global Legal Team, members of the Executive Management Team, and global business units to promote responsible business practices and ethical conduct. The CECO will develop and maintain the relationships between the company and relevant America’s, EMEA and APAC governments as well as other oversight bodies related to ethics and compliance.

Job Description

  • Lead the corporate ethics and compliance program, continuously reviewing and updating as appropriate
  • Oversee compliance and ethics investigations issues received on the various intake sources and ensure appropriate action for resolution of issues and systems improvements, and agile reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advise the executive management on ethics and compliance matters, provide updates to the Board
  • Help develop, continually improve, and support business units to apply best practices
  • Provide advice in complex problem-solving situations related to ethics and compliance to build consensus, identify strategic priorities and directions, and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Lead in developing, refining, and adapting quality standards related to ethics and compliance programs to meet evolving requirements; and promotes consistently high standards across the company.
  • Work to strengthen C&W’s approach to proactively identify, define, assess, prioritize, and manage high-level corporate risks across the organization
  • Conduct regular assessments of ethical and compliance opportunities and risks, and design and execute risk management and mitigation strategies
  • Work with stakeholders to review and keep updated all company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Develop and ensure employee ethics training programs are implemented and confirm accurate reporting with regards to completion of all required courses.
  • Ensure relevant audits of financial records, transactions, or procedures to identify potential problems are conducted annually.
  • Create opportunities and incentives for knowledge sharing across the company
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff, communicating clear performance goals and standards, offering regular performance feedback and prompt resolution of problems, and ensure staff have the time and opportunity to grow and develop in key competency areas.
  • Create a working environment that motivates staff and promotes teamwork and collaboration
  • Undertake special initiatives and performs other duties and responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in accounting, law, business, or a related field
  • Five years or more experience at the executive level leading audit, accounting, investigations, and fraud prevention functions
  • Demonstrated integrity, a strong work ethic, and commitment to DEI in a global organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, data analysis and information gathering, and a proven ability to gain credibility, support, and engagement from a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Outstanding collaboration and negotiation skills as demonstrated by proven ability to affect change internally and externally at multiple levels
  • Strategic mindset, excellent judgment at a complex organizational level, and proactive and dynamic style that fosters informed decision making, particularly on challenging, complex, and difficult issues
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and activities in a calm, resilient and professional manner, and able to manage ethical, legal, and investigative matters with discretion and the utmost care of the individuals and organization involved
