Business Analytics Architect

The Business Analytics Architect will be responsible for the development, maintenance, improvement, and support of the Gables Business Intelligence Platform. The Business Analytics Architect will work closely with key business stakeholders, the IT department, and external partners to deliver data solutions that contribute to the achievement of business objectives and performance. The Business Analytics Architect will be involved in all phases of the data lifecyle including data acquisition, data extraction, data transformation, modeling, analysis, and presentation. The Gables BI Platform is currently based on the Microsoft SQL platform (on-premise; including SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), Power BI, and in the future, MS Azure / MS SQL Azure. The position reports to the Director of Application Development within the Information Technology Department.
Work Location:
The position is located at the Gables Residential Headquarters in Atlanta, GA (Buckhead). The current remote work policy is three days per week in the office and two days per week remote and is subject to change.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support the design, development, and implementation of Power BI reporting and analytics solutions that deliver information efficiently, with the end goal to solve business challenges and achieve business objectives
- Provide oversight and guidance in Data Modeling and ETL Design
- Architect and develop reports utilizing Power BI applying best practices to the development lifecycle
- Documentation of source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, and database design
- Identify areas of improvement to optimize data flows
- Installation and Administration of Microsoft Power BI
- Navigate 3rd party data provider relationships
- Proactively suggest opportunities to add value to the organization by effective use of information management
- Build relationships with key stakeholders responsible for information and performance management in client’s organization
- Estimate effort and cost for a Microsoft Business Intelligence solution
Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant BI & Analytics or industry experience
- 5+ years of hands-on development experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence stack, 3+ years with Power BI
- Ideal: also has architect-level experience in an analytics platform other than Power BI (because pervasiveness of Power BI is relatively new)

- Microsoft SQL Server
- Microsoft SQL SSIS
- Microsoft SQL SSAS
- Microsoft SQL SSRS
- Microsoft Power BI
- Planning/sizing, deploying, and managing Power BI in the cloud
- Tenant administration
- Power BI Premium Capacity experience
- Monitoring and troubleshooting Power BI Reports and sites
- Content migration and SDLC in a multi-environment Power BI deployment
- Power BI Report and Dashboard development
- Power Query (M) and Dataflows
- Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
- Implementing and testing row-level security
- Experience working with very large reporting data volumes
- Experience working with live data connections
- Knowledge of API capabilities
- Knowledge of end-to-end Power BI best practices and processes
- Data Lifecycle
- Data architecture and ETL design, development, and performance tuning
- Strong SQL skills
- Comfortable testing assumptions and profiling data
- Conversant in the following topics:
- Dimensional Modeling
- Metadata management
- Master Data Management
- Data Governance
- Strong Microsoft Excel Skills

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related discipline from an accredited college or university (or equivalent work experience in the information technology field). Ability to fluently read and write English, accurately perform advanced mathematical functions.
Licenses and Equipment: Position requires individuals to furnish their own vehicle to fulfill all the job’s functions. Position requires individuals to have access to telephone and internet services to fulfill job functions remotely when needed.
Attendance: The position is full-time exempt. This position requires the ability to work 5 days per week, 52 weeks of the year. A normal work week is Monday through Friday. The position also requires the flexibility to work beyond 40 scheduled hours per week to meet deadlines as required by management.
Travel: Overall, occasional travel will be required (1-2 times per quarter) for continuing education, conferences, or for meeting attendance.
