Qualifications

Position Summary

The AR – Billing Specialist is responsible for preparing and recording of all billings to properties and related entities, conducting account reconciliations and ensuring the accuracy of accounts receivable balances for BH Management Services (BHMS) and B.Hom Student Living (BHOM). The position requires a strong commitment to the service needs of the internal and external customer. Represents the company in a professional and courteous manner. This position will need to report to the Des Moines Corporate office in IA – it will be hybrid.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepares timely and accurate billings for transactions between properties and all corporate BH entities. In addition, reviews sales tax requirements for all billings and calculating sales tax, if needed.
  • Reconcile Accounts Receivable balances between corporate entities and the properties (customers) weekly, as well as suspense accounts, and investigate any variances.
  • Balance intercompany loans monthly.
  • Professional daily communication with internal and external customers, other departments and vendors. Proactively following up on status of billing files and communicating with appropriate parties any issues found within files to troubleshoot and make billing more streamlined.
  • Problem solve and troubleshoot complex billing issues.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills:

  • 2-year degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable/Invoicing or Accounts Payable experience
  • Excellent Microsoft Office application skills, specifically Microsoft Excel pivot table, SUMIF, and VLOOKUP proficiencies
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Open-minded with a drive for change and process improvements
  • A positive, motivated and team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work with a diverse group internal and external vendors, customers, and other employees with professionalism

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance preferred

Work Schedule:8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, or as needed to meet business needs. Training will be conducted in-person at our Des Moines office, with the possibility of hybrid/remote

This job generally operates in a professional office environment but may also occasionally operate in an outdoor environment. While performing the duties of this job, employees must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, occasionally move about the office, constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, communicate regularly and effectively with others, both written and verbally, and may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

This position requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.

The ability and means to travel locally, overnight, in specific regions or states via automobile and airplane may be required.
