Headquartered in the Kansas City suburb of Merriam, KS, Cohen-Esrey’s roots in real estate go back to 1970. Since then, we have operated more than 78,000 apartment units in 600+ properties located in more than 250 cities and towns across 22 states. In the process, we provide rewarding opportunities for our investors, team members, residents, and other stakeholders that empower them to thrive. Acquisitions
We acquire Class B apartments from 200 – 600 units in dynamic markets that demonstrate strong job growth, population growth, and rent growth. We make physical improvements to amenities, unit interiors, and exterior elements, and overlay a comprehensive hands-on management approach to create value for our investors and deliver a high level of Customer Fulfillment for our residents.
Development
We create Thriving Communities that change lives. We develop affordable workforce and senior housing using creative and complex funding structures in concert with innovative construction solutions. The result is a high-quality apartment property that is compatible with the neighborhood and offers long-term sustainability.
Tax Credit
We specialize in syndicating various tax credit programs including federal and state historic tax credits and state affordable housing tax credits. We have successfully syndicated more than $700 million in tax credits for our own developments as well as for third-party developers.
